A practical, repeatable audit you can run today across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini to see exactly where your brand shows up — and where it doesn't.
Most brands have no idea how they appear — or whether they appear at all — in AI-generated answers. The LLM citation audit changes that.
Step 1: Define your probe queries
List the 20–30 questions your ideal customers ask when they’re in-market for what you offer. These should be informational queries at the awareness and consideration stage. Examples: “Which agencies specialise in AI search optimisation?”, “How do I improve my brand’s presence in ChatGPT responses?”
Step 2: Run queries across platforms
Test each query in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Claude, and Bing Copilot. Record the full response for each. Use the same account and a fresh conversation for each query.
Step 3: Score citation presence
For each response, record: Is your brand mentioned? Is it mentioned positively, neutrally, or not at all? Are competitors mentioned? Aggregate this into a citation share-of-voice score.
Step 4: Build the content response
For each gap, create a content brief: the definitive answer to the probe query, on your domain, with proper schema, author entity signals, and internal linking to your strongest authority pages. Repeat the audit quarterly and track your citation SOV over time.
